Accounts Assistant / Accounting Technician

Location: Cork (In Office with potential of hybrid after probation)
● Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent (Subject to a 6-month probationary period)

About LeisureWorld
LeisureWorld is a vibrant, not-for-profit Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) operating five
distinct facilities on behalf of Cork City Council. Our operations span three multi-functional
leisure centres (featuring swimming pools, gyms, reception areas, and astro pitches), a fully
staffed golf course pro shop, and a historic church operating as a local venue for cultural,
heritage, and arts events.

Position Overview
We are seeking a methodical, detail-oriented Accounts Assistant/Accounting Technician to join
our central administration team. This is a hands-on, high-volume transactional role focused on
maintaining strong financial controls across our five local facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bank, Cash & Revenue Reconciliation: Update and reconcile all bank accounts,
    company credit cards, and point-of-sale (POS) systems weekly. Prepare secure
    lodgement packs for Brinks collections and maintain rigorous site coinage control.
    Accounts Payable (Creditors): Process supplier invoices using AutoEntry and
    Trackplan. Prepare monthly reconciled creditors control accounts and aged listings for
    review.
  • Accounts Receivable (Debtors): Raise formal invoices for schools, group bookings, and
    corporate events. Manage the collection of site management fees, follow up on overdue
    accounts, and resolve billing queries.
  • Payroll Production: Process weekly payroll via Snow Payroll software for circa 100
    employees. Liaise with HR to ensure accurate recording of rates, hours, and statutory
    leave, and handle staff payroll queries.
  • Financial Control & Systems: Upload operational income figures into Sage 50. Maintain
    strict confidentiality and comply with internal data protection standards and corporate
    Clear Desk Policies.

Candidate Profile

Criteria Essential Requirements Desirable Attributes
Qualifications Strong numerical competency (Leaving Certificate or equivalent).

Completion of, or active progress towards, an Accounting Technician qualification (ATI / IATI) or equivalent.

Fully qualified Accounting Technician (Diploma level) or equivalent.
Experience Proven experience in an Accounts Assistant, bookkeeping, or structured administration role.

Experience handling high-volume transactional data entry.

Experience working within a multi-site leisure, retail, or hospitality environment.
Technical Skills Strong proficiency in MS Excel (data sorting, basic formulas).

General competency with computer-based office systems.

Working knowledge of Sage 50.

Familiarity with Legend CRM, Timepoint, AutoEntry, Trackplan, Snow Payroll.

Core Competencies Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Ability to prioritize tasks to meet strict commercial deadlines.

Clear, professional communication style when handling vendor or debtor queries.
