LW Management

LW Management is the parent company that over sees the successful operation of it’s multiple sites across Cork City.

LW Management started as a one site facility called LeisureWorld Bishopstown. This was set up by Cork City Council in 1997 as a not for profit company to manage their facilities and provide a quality service and experience to all that wish to avail of their facilities and services.

Over the years what initially began as “LeisureWorld” has grown into a progressive management company called LW Management that now manages five facilities across Cork city.

LeisureWorld Bishopstown

LeisureWorld Bishopstown was opened in 1997. This is the flag ship LW Management site and its largest facility. It has 3 swimming pools (25m, 18m and toddler pool), 2 gyms (main fully equipped gym & speciality gym), class studios, outdoor astro turf pitches as well as a busy on site café, all located in Bishopstown, Cork.

LeisureWorld Churchfield

In 2005 LW Management then took over a facility on the North side of the city which is now called LeisureWorld Churchfield. This facility is the second largest of the LeisureWorld facilities and has a special place in the community with a strong family focus. It has 3 pools (25m, children’s pool and toddler pool with play zone), a large water slide, 2 gyms (Dedicated free weights gym, main fitness gym), class studios and outdoor astro turf pitches.

LeisureWorld Douglas

LW Management took over the management of the Gus Healy Swimming Pools in Douglas in 2012 on behalf of Cork City Council. LeisureWorld Douglas has one 25m pool. This is a very busy pool for children’s swimming lessons as well as swim club rental and as a result, public swimming times are limited.

Mahon Golf Course

Mahon Golf Course is Ireland’s first purpose made Municipal Golf Course. In 1978 Cork City Council commissioned Mr. Eddie Hacket to design an 18 hole golf course on the Mahon peninsula. This was to be Irelands first purpose made Municipal Golf Course and was financially assisted by the Golfing Union of Ireland.

The course was officially opened on 3rd September 1980 and was called the Ted McCarthy Municipal Golf Course. The course is renowned to provide a very challenging test to all grade of golfer.

St. Peter’s Cork

The newest and most diverse site in LW Management’s portfolio is St. Peter’s Cork. An exhibition and event centre located on North Main Street, St.Peter’s Cork has historical roots dating back to medieval times. A deconsecrated Church, this public exhibition centre is open to all visitors 6 days a week.

LW Management took over the management of St. Peter’s Cork in 2016. The venue is a popular event space in Cork city and plays host to a variety of talks, workshops, performances and indoor markets. It also plays host to a number of private events such as corporate events and weddings.
