Gym Supervisor

Job Summary:

The gym supervisor is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the delivery of all health and fitness-related activities and services, including the studio, gym, functional zone, and related events.

This role integrates all aspects of fitness, personal training, and health & wellness services, ensuring seamless operation and high-quality service delivery. A significant portion of the working week will be dedicated to hands-on involvement in these areas, actively leading and delivering programs and activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Compliance: Follow the company’s Normal Operating Procedures (NOP) and Emergency Action Plan (EAP) at all times.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure full compliance with the organization’s Health & Safety Policy.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the upkeep of all gym equipment and promptly report any defects to the appropriate team or stakeholders.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify and report potential hazards or incidents to minimize risks to customers and colleagues
  • Facility Compliance: Follow all facility policies, rules, and regulations while on shift.
  • Equipment Management: Ensure the safe handling, transportation, and storage of centre equipment.
  • Setup & Teardown: Assist in setting up and dismantling equipment for various activities and events as needed.
  • Facility Cleanliness: Perform daily cleaning tasks to maintain high hygiene and cleanliness standards throughout the building.
  • Record Keeping: Complete necessary checks and logs while carrying out duties.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Undertake other departmental duties and tasks assigned by senior management.
  • Service Coordination: Plan, communicate, and lead key staff in delivering existing services and developing new programs and activities.
  • Business Performance Management: Oversee and monitor the performance of the Health & Wellness department, working with management to drive improvements.
  • Staff Performance Oversight: Provide regular feedback to staff, addressing performance issues and escalating concerns to senior management as necessary.
  • Workforce Management: Assist with rostering, managing staffing levels, and supporting recruitment efforts as directed by senior management.

Knowledge

  • Qualifications & Experience: A degree in sports, exercise, or health science, or relevant work experience in the field
  • Clinical Population Engagement: Interest in working with diverse clinical groups, including individuals managing weight, MS, Parkinson’s, cardiac rehabilitation, disabilities, stroke recovery, mental health conditions, and older adults.
  • Specialized Training: Additional qualifications such as Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase IV or other health/medical-related physical activity certifications are desirable.
  • Leadership & Communication: Ability to confidently lead programs and communicate effectively with both the public and allied health professionals.
  • Physical Fitness: Maintain a high level of strength and endurance to meet the demands of the role.
  • Qualification Maintenance: Employees are responsible for ensuring their certifications remain up to date.
